My name is Monika Smekot and I founded POZAproject in 2011 because I was walking around with a head full of ideas for performances and I had no opportunity to take those fantasies out of my mind. I needed space, people, some kind of guidance in the process and an audience. I was also very curious how others deal with creative process, where they start and what practices they use to translate their ideas into performance. So I decided to create a platform for experimentations and investigations where we can go a bit deeper (and perhaps a bit more wild if we want).
Although the format of POZA is fluid and it might be different each time, there is a very basic mechanism behind it. The idea is to invite local and foreign artists to propose specific research that will lead the group towards a public presentation (sharing). The emphasis of the research is discovering possibilities rather than creating big productions and offer the participants the practice of ‘being seen’.
Apart from research POZA also will organise short trainings (workshops and classes) in various artistic genres, which will not concentrate on performance but rather on the ‘maintenance and practice’.
I hope you will find something interesting for you in POZA,
either as a participant or as a spectator.
See you around,
